Physical characteristics

The Canaan Dog is a medium-sized shaggy dog. Males weigh between 18 and 25kg and measure between 50 and 60cm, and females weigh between 16 and 19kg and a height between 45 and 50cm. The head is wedge-shaped, with erect ears and rounded tips. The body is robust, protected by an outer coat that is dense, hard and of medium length, and an inner coat that can be fine or profuse depending on the season. The color can be any shade of brown or red, black, cream, with small white spots, or white with spots of color.

It has a life expectancy of about 14 years.
