How much should my dog eat

Dog eating feed

When we decide to bring a furry home we immediately become so fond of him that we want the best for him, which raises many doubts about everything. Perhaps what most often worries all of us who live with dogs is the eating. Today there are so many brands of feed that sometimes it is very difficult for us to choose one.

But not only that, but knowing for sure how much my dog should eat is not an easy task, since it is important that you eat only what you should to stay in good shape. Although now it will be a little more 😉.

How often should I feed him?

Dogs do not eat as often when they are puppies as when they are adults, so to make it easier for you to know how often you should feed them, we recommend this »calendar»:

0 to 1 month of age

During the first of life the furry has to be fed by its mother, whenever it feels hungry. In the event that you have been orphaned or your mother is ill, You will have to prepare replacement milk for dogs - sold in veterinary clinics - and give it with a bottle every 2-3 hours.

1 to 4 months of age

From the fourth to fifth week, the furry can start eating solid but soft food. I think wet for puppies, I think dry soaked in water or milk for dogs, or cooked meat. The frequency can vary in each puppy: there are some who are hungry every 4 hours, and others every 5 hours.

From 5 months to a year

From this age the furry will continue to grow, but not as fast as it has done so far so that it will not need to eat as often. So that, you can give him 3 or 4 meals a day.

From the year

Once he is one year old he will stop being a puppy and will become an adult dog that has to eat 1 or 2 times a day. If he is very gluttonous, we advise you to give him twice more than once, since this way he will not have that great need to be eating all day.

How much does my dog need?
