How to administer puffed rice in your dog's diet

Puffed rice

Throughout a dog's life, its health may occasionally decline. This is completely normal: no matter how hard we try, we will not be able to protect you 100% from all the microorganisms that can affect you.

When that happens, you can lose your appetite, which is a problem that makes the situation worse. Therefore, we are going to explain how to administer puffed rice in your dog's diet.

What is puffed rice?

Puffed rice it is a natural product from which the starch has been removed, something that is very good to know because starch usually causes food allergies in dogs by not being able to digest them correctly. When our friend has lost his appetite or does not eat as much as he used to because he is older or because he is sick, we have to provide him with food that stimulates hunger, that makes him want to eat, as is the case with puffed rice.

How do you prepare?

The way of preparation is very simple. Just you have to take the recommended portion on the product packaging taking into account the weight of our dog, and water to boil in a pot. We stir it for ten seconds, and that's it. Then you just have to let it cool a little before giving it to the animal, either with the same water and / or mixed with its usual food.

How to give it to the dog?

Puffed rice can greatly help the dog to regain its health. But, depending on what we want to give it to, we can add more or less. So, for example if:

  • He is thin: in addition to giving him the portion of food that is his turn, we will also add the portion of puffed rice that is recommended on the package.
  • You are obese: if we want it to lose weight, the most advisable thing is to remove a part of its feed, and replace it with puffed rice.
  • You are sick and / or older: In the event that he is losing his appetite, we will have to give him his portion of puffed rice with feed, if possible wet. As it has more smell and flavor, it stimulates the dog's appetite more.
