What ingredients does a good feed have to have?

Since dogs are mostly carnivorous animals, the feed must be composed mainly of meat. Animal proteins, such as chicken, beef, lamb or even fish, is an ingredient that not only should not be missing, but also represents, at least, 60 or 70% of the total.

The remaining 30 or 40% should be made up of fruits and vegetables, which will provide the necessary vitamins and minerals.

The most important thing we have to do is check the feed ingredients table, which will be ordered from largest to smallest quantity. Thus, we can discard those that are of poor quality, which will be those that are made up of cereals (rice, corn, wheat, oats, etc.) and by-products.

Another thing we have to look at is the size of the croquette. If the dog is small, we will have to give it a suitable feed for its teeth, and the same if it is large. Whenever we have the opportunity, the ideal will be to buy it in bulk, since that way we can see how big the croquette is; although if we have already bought the feed and it turns out that it is too big, we will simply have to grind it or soak it in water.
