The Beauceron is a sheepdog that in appearance can be quite reminiscent of the Doberman, but with a face and body designed more for keeping sheep and not so much for hunting. Its character, however, is similar: it is an animal with a lot of energy that needs a patient and loving family that it can trust.

Physical characteristics

The Beauceron is a dog originally from France, where it is known as the Beauce Shepherd or Bas rouge due to the tan-colored spots on its legs. Formerly, and still today, it is used to protect and guide livestock. It is a large furry, with a height of 65-70cm if it is male and 61-68cm if it is female, and with a weight of around 40-50kg.

The head is elongated, with a flat or very slightly rounded skull. The muzzle is elongated, with the black nose and the teeth with a scissor closure. The eyes are almond shaped, and the ears that have not been cut (a practice that is beginning to be prohibited in many countries, including Spain) remain hanging. Its tail is long, but it does not reach the ground.

If you dare to live with a Beauceron, you must be willing to: go for a walk every day, give it a lot of love and have a great time with it. It is a furry that has a lot of energy, and you will need to be able to download it on a daily basis. It is also very affectionate and intelligent, and he likes to learn new things.
