Barbie's Dog

This breed of dog always caught my eye since I was little and played Barbies. It was the favorite pet of all the girls who played with this doll.

The Afghan Hound, better known as the Barbie dog, comes from a very ancient breed from the Middle East, specifically from the mountains of Afghanistan, hence its name. It was used to hunt leopards, who were particularly intimidated by this breed of dog. However, many years later it was the pet preferred by the royal courts and the nobility. Today it is used mostly as a show dog and occasionally as a pet.

The main problem that occurs having it as a pet is the care of your hair as it is very long and requires special attention. The person who decides to have an Afghan dog as a pet should know that it must be brushed daily and that it takes at least 1 hour to brush it. In the same way, you must be attentive at mealtime, since you have to remove the hair from the head and ears so that it does not get dirty.

It is also due pay close attention to physical training of this little animal, since because it is a large animal it needs to do a lot of exercise. It's a good idea to take him out daily so he can run freely and tire himself. Otherwise it can become restless and damaging, and end up breaking your entire house.

Anyway if you decide to have this dog as a pet, you will have an excellent and Loyal partner, which in addition to very intelligent has great mental agility.

Remember that having a puppy requires a commitment, so if you think that you have the time to dedicate to a pet, and that you are going to greatly enjoy its company and the care it should have, the Afghan Hound is for you.
