If you are looking to find meaning in your life, there is nothing better than acquiring a dog as a pet, to accompany you and give you unconditional love, in other words, a lively dog, affectionate and attached to its owner. This dog is none other than the Belgian Griffon.

It is a dog originally from Brussels, Belgium, and created from crossing with other breeds such as the Affenpisher, Yorkshire terrier, Miniature Schnauzer and the Pug. There are three varieties of the Brussels griffon (1880), the petit Brabancon, or little Brabantino, (1900) and in 1905 the third is recognized as the Belgian griffon or in Dutch, griffon Belge.

History of the Belgian Griffon

They are small dogs of no more than 28 cm, who were kept in the vicinity of the stables vigilant before the appearance of a rat or any vermin that could harm the cattle. That is why they can be scandalous if they see a rodent at home or if something moves in an inexplicable way.

After the First and Second World War, it was in danger of extinction Because Belgium began to import English dogs that at that time had become fashionable, but at the end of the XNUMXth century, it was this breed of dog that was transferred to the United Kingdom, gaining great popularity.

Features

Their coarse, solid black, black and tan, black with brown or reddish brown fur mixed, gives them their characteristic appearance, and you should brush it every day to avoid knots or dead hair. He walks with graceful movements, his head is large in proportion to his body and he has very bushy eyebrows and abundant hair under his nose.

Although their ancestors were farm dogs, the current easily adapt to any type of dwelling, but you should take them for a walk because they love to run, otherwise they will get bored easily and will let you know by misbehaving.

If you have children or cats, these are not a problem for living with a Belgian Griffon, since he is very sociable both with people and with other animals. From puppies you have to teach them who is the boss, because if not, they will be a bit rebellious and very messy.

Size

Belgian Griffons are small, but some owners claim that it is like having a large dog, since they are brave and do not shy away from the presence of a larger dog. However, with strangers they can become shy and reserved.
