World's Largest Dogs: Alano Alemán

One of the largest dogs in the world is the Alano Alemán, also known as German mastiff or great dane. These animals have their origin from the Bullenbeiser, as well as the wild boar hunting dogs. Importantly, in the middle of the 19th century, a German, decided to cross a Great Dane with a Mastiff and produced this breed that we know today. Although in 1880 an exhibition was held in Berlin and presented to the standard that he had a somewhat aggressive and harsh character, little by little his temperament has changed and he has become docile and affectionate.

The Alano Aleman has a giant appearance, they measure between 71 and 76 centimeters, so they belong to the largest dogs in the world. It is a breed of enormous proportions, quite robust although without losing the proportions and elegance that characterize them. These animals have an appearance although quite large, majestic and elegant, with a very shiny and short coat. Generally, the latter can be blue, black, brindle and beige.

If we want to have these animals at home, we must know that these giants have a fairly balanced temperamentThey are very loyal to their masters and are excellent watchdogs. If we have small children, although at first they may be frightened by their size, these animals will be quite affectionate, calm and brave, they will want to play with them, they will be very docile and zero aggressive. However, if he feels that his masters are at risk, he can become aggressive.

The German Alano, or great dane, can be susceptible to diseases such as hip dysplasia, heart, tumors, and tail injuries. Due to their large size, they have an average life span of around 7 and 10 years. It is also important that the animal exercises daily in large and wide places due to its large size.
