Its origin is in the United States and includes different varieties: the Black and Tan Coonhound, the American English Coonhound, the Bluetick Coonhound, the Redbone Coonhound and the Treeing Walker Coonhound. The vast majority of specimens are descended from the English Foxhound, being the result of several crosses. It is one of the oldest breeds in the country, dating its birth from the XNUMXth century.
Their fur can be black, chestnut, tan or bronze, and can even be tricolor, and their average weight ranges between 25 and 36 kg. It is also characterized by great muscles, drooping ears and large eyes. As for their character, they are usually calm and quiet, although they need a good dose of physical activity due to their powerful hunting instinct.
They are usually good and loving with their own, although they must be socialized from puppies.
