Diseases in the eyes of dogs (I)

In the same way that it happens with human beings, Dogs they must take special care of their eyes. The eyes of our pets are sensitive to light rays, although it is true that not with definition and with colors as it happens with us.

Dogs are characterized by having three eyelids in his eyes, one in the upper part, another accessory eyelid, which slides from the outside downwards and a third eyelid that is in charge of distributing the tears and fulfills the function of a protective barrier against possible infections.

One of the most common eye disorders in children Dogs It is called dystrophiasis, which occurs when one or more hairs are located in the lower part of your eyelid or when the eyelashes deviate causing discomfort and irritation.

It's normal that dogs suffer from conjunctivitis, what appears as a result of the flesh-colored part of the dog's eye joining the cornea with the eyelids and becoming inflamed.

In his eyes there are special tubes that flow into the nasal cavity, causing the excess tears to drain. In some dogs these ducts do not have the ability to drain properly causing tears to overflow below the edge of the eye, causing an eye that is always wet and easily infected.

The cornea of dogs is the outer part of their eyeball, this part is always exposed to wounds, scratches or blows. Many dogs tend to injure their corneas while playing with colleagues or when they carry a branch of their garden.

If you see that your pet has injured his eye, it is important that you take him immediately to the vet for healing and the appropriate treatment.
