There are some theories that associate the postures in which dogs sleep with their character and behavior. Such positions can indicate certain emotions and moods, such as confidence or nervousness. All of them have an explanation, according to canine behavior experts, so it would be interesting to analyze them one by one.

1. Sideways. This posture is really comfortable for the dog, as it allows him to fully support the surface. It is said that the dogs that they sleep thus they are often sociable and very affectionate, and that they are sure of themselves at that moment. This gesture is related to confidence and happiness.

2. Face down. This position indicates a tranquility clouded by a certain level of alertness. Lying down like this, the animal does not plug any of its ears, so it can easily perceive any small noise. When you get into this position, your muscles are still tense enough to reach REM sleep.

3. Curled up. Commonly called "the fox", this position allows the dog to hide the legs under the body, thus maintaining body temperature. Its meaning is related to instinct, since in a natural environment canids protect themselves in this way from possible attacks by predators on the abdomen. When our pet lies down like this, it may be indicating that it is cold or that it feels uncomfortable. In any case, specialists say that dogs that sleep in this position tend to be docile and sweet in character.

4. Face down with legs stretched out. This position is known colloquially as that of "super dog", and it is characterized by stretching all four legs like a "superhero", as if it were flying. Very common in puppies, this posture denotes energy and motivation, since it makes it easier for them to get up quickly and run to play.

5. Face up. It reveals a state of absolute tranquility, as well as great confidence in the environment. If our pet usually sleeps like this, we can consider it as self-confident and affectionate. It is common after a high dose of physical activity or when it is very hot.
