Five ways dogs get our attention

Dogs are sociable and pack-dependent animals by nature, which makes them frequently seek the attention of yours. They do it through certain behaviors, which a priori may seem strange or annoying, but the reality is that they are endowed with great meaning. For this reason it is important to learn to identify them. Below we list five behaviors that these animals use to claim our attention.

1. Constant barking. As we have commented on several occasions, each type of bark reflects different emotions. With this they may want to warn us of some strange noise, that they feel fear, joy, want to play ... To understand what they want to tell us we must study the types of barking and their meanings, as well as observe the gestures that accompany them (movements of the tail , ears, steps forward or backward, etc.).

2. They nibble on objects. At that moment the animal seeks to get our attention, in whatever way. Surely you have observed that every time he bites one of our things we go towards him, even with the intention of scolding him, so it is common for him to use this "prank" to achieve what he wants.

3. Offer us your toys. If the dog wants to play, he will let us know, and most likely he will use his toys for it. He may leave them near our feet, on the knees, or he may simply watch us carefully holding the object in his mouth. This attitude is usually accompanied by insistent barking and small touches with the paws.

4. Crying and howling. Very common, for example, when the animal is left alone at home or when it asks for its food. They are insistent laments that he usually makes while looking at us carefully, appealing to our compassion. On the other hand, it is important that we make sure that these moans are not caused by some kind of pain or illness.

5. Licking. Undoubtedly, when our dog licks us, it catches our attention immediately. He knows it and adopts this behavior to get us to listen to him. He can be very insistent, even going so far as to pounce on us to lick our faces.
