Furbo, a camera to monitor our dog

Dogs playing with the interactive Furbo camera.

Fortunately, there are more and more technological advances dedicated to the care of our dog. An example is Furboa camera interactive that allows us to interact with the animal from a distance and monitor it even from outside the home, in addition to giving it prizes when it behaves well. We tell you how this device works.

This gadget has been developed by the startup Tomofun and financed by crowdfunding on the Indiegogo platform, with the intention of facilitating the day-to-day life of people with pets and creating new ways of interaction between the two. It is a complex mechanism that incorporates a video camera, a microphone, a loudspeaker and a prize pool.

Furbo offers us high definition images, with a width of the visual field of 120 degrees, night vision, a “bark alert” that warns us in case the dog mounts the equipment, and a sensor that detects if the animal is barking too much. In that case, it would send us a notification to the mobile so that we can check if everything is going well. In addition, you can take photos and videos and emit sounds and lights to distract our pet.

This device connects to an app for Smartphone from which we can configure different options; for example, we can make several family members have access to the camera from their mobiles. It allows us to receive recordings and audios in real time, the function being two-way audio; that is, the dog can also listen to us.

One of the most prominent features of Furbo is to throw treats to the dog, something that we can control from our own mobile phone. So we can play with him even from away from home, and make the experience of being alone more positive. We will simply have to connect the device via a USB cable to a power adapter (it does not use a battery or battery) and control it through the app.
