Homeless dogs at the Brazil Open tennis

Homeless dogs Open Brasil

We have seen dogs do all kinds of jobs, but this time they are homeless dogs who participated as Ball boy at the Brazil Open tennis. We know that dogs can be good police, rescue, companion or therapy dogs, but we have never seen them act as ball boys at a game.

This was done with the intention of raise public awareness of the abandonment of many dogs that still need a home. We always say that it is very important to become aware of the situation of many abandoned dogs, and of the need for sterilization and responsible ownership. And this time they got the message across through a tennis match.

In the Brasil Open they participated up to four dogs who attended as ball boys and that they had been trained for it. Despite everything, tennis players Gestao Elias and Roberto Carballés did not stop passing some funny anecdotes chasing the dogs, who did not always want to give them the ball, but rather play with them a little. It thus became a fun game full of funny moments.

These four dogs are homeless dogs, who were trained by the NGO to find them a home, called ABEAC, the Animal Welfare Association of Amigos de Celia. He is in Sao Paulo and with this act he tried to make people aware that they should adopt and not buy dogs as if they were objects. In addition, they revealed the great aptitude and intelligence of many of these stray and mongrel dogs that are sometimes looked down upon in front of the purebreds.

They certainly set the bar high as ball boys, especially since they were so nice that nobody cared that they had a few minor glitches. A great initiative that has become known worldwide thanks to the repercussion of that tennis match.
