Physical characteristics
The lovely hairy Irish Setter It is a medium-large dog, weighing 20 to 30kg for the male, and 18 to 25kg for the female. The height at the withers in the male is from 58 to 67cm, and in the female from 55 to 62cm. Its body is protected by a semi-long coat of hair that can be either white and red, or red.
The head is long and fine, with the ears hanging back, covered by long, silky fringes. The tail is also covered with fringes, and it goes at the same height or lower than the back.
