How often to bathe my dog

Dog bathing

Dogs, when they come to live with us, must get used to the bath. Hygiene is one of the most important aspects, especially when it comes to preventing them from smelling bad. But you have to know that they cannot bathe every day, since their hair has oils that help keep it healthy, and if we wash it too often, we could put their coat and their health in danger.

So let's know how often to bathe my dog.

In general, it is recommended to bathe him once a month, but it will depend on the length of his hair and, above all, the time he spends outside with others of his kind, bathing them with one frequency or another. Considering this, you should know the following:

  • If the dog has long hair, it will bathe every 4 weeks.
  • If the dog has semi-long hair, it will bathe every 4-6 weeks.
  • And if you have short hair, you will bathe every 6-8 weeks.

Does it seem too little? I won't lie to you: me too. I love bathing them and having their hair shine afterwards. Since we have a garden, we have fun playing and of course, they get dirty a lot. But they can't bathe as often, since as we said, your health could be in danger.

Wash the dog

Still, there are several things we can do to keep them clean. One of them is brush them daily. In this way, we will not only achieve tangle-free hair, but we will also remove dead hair and dirt. If your dog also spends time outside, playing and having a great time outdoors, you can put talcum powder for babies, which is a product that will not damage their fur in any way, and that you can use whenever you need it.

If your furry ends up quite dirty and it has been less than a month since you last bathed it bathe him only with water so that it is again, at least, without dirt.

With these tips, your furry can be kept clean even without bathing it 🙂.
