How often to deworm my dog

Dog scratching

Deworming a dog is one of the things we have to do to protect it from the attack of parasites, whether external, such as fleas and ticks, or internal. However, there are several insecticides on the market and it is not always easy to decide on one.

To help you, we explain how often to deworm my dog.

Puppy deworming

Dogs, from puppies, must begin to get used to deworming. They will proceed to give a pill against internal parasites 7-10 days before each vaccination, and later once a month if you live in a rural environment, or every 3-4 months if the animal does not have much contact with the outside.

For external parasites, pipettes for puppies are currently available, which can be administered from two months. You have to put it right at the back of the neck (where the head meets the back) so that in this way the contents of the pipette cannot be swallowed.

Deworming of adult dogs

If your furry friend is an adult, that is, if he is already more than one year old, it is advisable to give him a pill for internal parasites every 1-2 months. On the other hand, to avoid the unwanted fleas and ticks, you can choose to put a pipette on his neck, pulverize his body with spray, put a collar repellent or give him a bath with a insecticidal shampoo.

In the event that you spend a lot of time outside, especially if you go a lot in the field, pipettes and necklaces are the most effective, since protect the entire body of the animal for as long as they indicate (from 1 to 8 months). On the other hand, if the dog does not have much contact with other animals or if it only goes outside for walks around the city, you can choose to spray it, which is a product that can be used as many times as you want without problem.

Enjoy your dog with complete peace of mind, deworming him whenever he needs it 🙂.

    Hello Jorge.
Sometimes dewormers have these side effects. If they don't improve, try giving them chicken broth (boneless) until they improve.
    All the best
