The Siberian Husky is one of the oldest breeds of dogs that exist today. They look a lot like wolves and, like them, they have bodies designed for long walks. But in addition, they have a very special character, you could almost say that it is typical of the breed, but above all it is a dog very noble and very loving that will make the whole family fall in love.
Let us know how to care for a Siberian Husky.
Training
During the first months that you are with us, it is very important that we teach you some basic commands how to "sit", "stay" or "give the paw", and above all help him to get used to the noise he may hear during walks and at home, to the presence of other people and animals, and also to the veterinarian.
To do this, we must start from day one to carry a bag with dog treats (soft, so that they can easily chew), and "capture" good behaviors. For example, if he sits down (regardless of whether you asked him to or not), give him a treat; if it gives you the leg, another prize. This positive reinforcement, along with the treats, will help the dog know what behaviors are okay and therefore which ones should you repeat. Bad behavior tends to "go away" on its own over time.
Wire Brushed
It is necessary to brush it at least once a day. But in summer you will have to do it more often: between 2 and 4, especially if you live in an area that has a warm climate. By the way, if that's your case, make sure he has enough water and to prevent his body from overheating too much.
Food
Another point that we cannot forget is that of food. It is highly recommended that it be given a quality food, either natural (or BARF), or holistic feed that contains a high percentage of meat and is free of cereals. They are more expensive than conventional ones, but think that what you spend on food, you save it at the vet, since your dog will have a very good health.
Veterinary care
And speaking of veterinary expenses. It is important (in fact, it is required) give him at least the mandatory vaccinations, and the annual revaccination against rabies. It is also advisable to sterilize or castrate the animal, unless you want to raise it, from at least 7 months if it is female, or from 10 months if it is male.
It is also convenient implant the microchip, because in the event that it gets lost, if it is taken to a clinic they will immediately locate you (in any case, I advise you to put a necklace with an identification plate on which your phone number will have been engraved, because that way the The person who finds it can call you directly, without having to take the dog to the vet).
Relaxing
As we have said, it is a breed that need to walk a lot. Take it for long walks and, if you like it and can, go for a walk in the mountains or in the countryside. You will both enjoy it a lot.
Finally, you need to know that dogs of this breed are a bit stubborn, so to avoid future problems it is very, very advisable that they be trained as children, using positive reinforcement.
