How to communicate with my dog

Dog with a photographer

When we decide to share our life with a furry one we have to keep in mind at all times that if we want to be his best friend we must make sure that he receives all the care he needs, but it will also be very important. treat it as it deserves.

A good relationship can (and indeed should) begin to be built from the moment the dog enters the house. But, How to communicate with my dog?

Take time to understand their body language

To know what he wants to tell you, it is very important to spend time observing his gestures, his reactions, his postures. The dog has many ways of communicating his feelings to you, for example:

  • Felicidad: will move the tail from side to side, making quick movements. He can bark in a high-pitched tone, and he can even shake if he knows you're taking him somewhere he loves to go.
  • Trust: it will look calm, with the tail raised.
  • FearWhen it is scared or scared, it will crouch down and have its tail between its legs, or it will hide.
  • Tense: If the hair on his back and tail stands on end, he shows his teeth and growls, it is because he feels threatened and could attack.
  • Invitation to the game: If he crouches down with his legs from front to front and keeps his back and tail raised, it is a clear invitation to play.

Communicate in their language

Humans have an urgent need to communicate with words, but to have a good human-dog relationship it is much better to use doggy language. It will be much easier for him to understand us, and we will learn a new language 🙂.

How does speak it? Well like this:

  • If he is jumping on us, we have to turn our back on him to calm him down.
  • If he is scared and / or afraid, we will approach him little by little, turning our backs on him and without looking him straight in the eyes.
  • If we want him to come, it will be enough to give us a few touches with his hand on our leg, or show him a treat.
  • If we have two dogs that are very tense, we must put ourselves between the two. If the fight has started, we will have to take both of them by the tail and separate them.
