Symptoms of fever in dogs
A quick way to know if your dog's health is weakening is by taking his temperature by inserting a plastic thermometer in his rectal area. To do this, you must clean the instrument well with water, dry it thoroughly and put a little lubricant on it and then introduce it to the dog. It is likely that you do not like anything, so it is highly advisable that, while one person takes your temperature, there is another to hold it.
If the thermometer shows 39ºC or more, you will know that the animal has a fever. And you can confirm it if it also presents some of these symptoms: vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, malaise, sadness, dry and / or hot nose, tremors, runny nose, aggressiveness, sleep.
Treatment of fever in dogs
Once you know that he does indeed have a fever, the first thing you have to do is take him to the vet. There are many diseases, such as parvovirus, that if not detected in time can be fatal for the dog. Therefore, before doing anything it is always better to have a veterinarian examine him, who will give him an appropriate treatment.
The treatment will consist, depending on the case, to give antibiotics or, if the case is mild, put a towel soaked in warm water and cover it for a few minutes and then dry it thoroughly and thus avoid a cold.
