How to stop a dog from biting you?

Dog biting

Since it is a puppy, the dog uses its mouth for many things, such as chewing its food or exploring its environment. Thanks to it, he can know how the things he takes are, for example, but if we let him bite us when he is an adult, it will hurt us.

To avoid this, it is very important to teach him from a young age that he cannot bite. I will explain to you below how to stop a dog from biting you.

Nobody imagines that their dog can bite someone, but the reality is that If that animal has not received the proper education or if it has fallen into the wrong hands, it could do so if it were in need. We as his caregivers, we have to ensure, not only that he is happy with us, but also that he respects us. But be careful, it is not about imposing ourselves on him, but about teaching him, in the same way that parents do with their children, that there are things that he cannot do.

To do this, it is very important that we do the following:

  • Let the dog live with us, inside the house: this way you will be much calmer and happier.
  • Castrate him: before the first heat (with 6 months or so).
  • Socialize it properly: the dog has to have contact with all kinds of people (women, men, children, babies, adults, seniors) and with other dogs, especially from 2 to 3 months of age.
  • Play a lot with him: with a toy, be it a ball or a stuffed animal. If he tries to bite us, we will stop the game.
  • Don't leave him alone with a child: Either one could harm the other.
  • Teaching children to be with the dog: Children need to know that they cannot pull on its tail or ears, or stick their fingers in its eyes or climb on it.
