How to take care of calluses on my dog's elbows

Puppy lying down

Humans tend to have corns and calluses, which are very annoying. Unfortunately, our dogs can also have them and, although at first they are not a serious problem, it is convenient to go reviewing them from time to time. Thus, if we see that his condition worsens, we can act as soon as possible.

For this, in Mundo Perros we are going to explain how to care for calluses on my dog's elbows. Do not miss it.

Corns in dogs, like the ones we can have, appear when a certain area is under constant pressure. Either due to the excessive weight of the furry, or because it rubs against surfaces that are very hard, such as the earth. When they appear on the dog's elbows, it experiences a lot of discomfort, especially if it is an animal that likes to sunbathe in the garden or play in the park.

As we mentioned at the beginning, they usually do not pose a serious problem, but in some cases they can develop into wounds that cause bleeding and infections that must be treated by a veterinarian.

To take care of your elbows and prevent / treat them, what we can do is spread a little gel Aloe vera, natural, directly extracted from the plant. It will keep the area hydrated and protect it from possible microbes. Under no circumstances do we have to give him medicines or creams for humans, since they could be toxic for him. In case of doubt, we will always consult a professional.

Still, no treatment will work if we do not improve the surface on which the dog rests. For example, We can put a mattress in the area where you spend more time, or place the house where the grass is. The less rubbing on hard surfaces, the better it will be for the furry's elbows.

And you, how do you take care of your friend's elbows? 🙂
