Before leaving, it is very important that you have everything you need, which is:
- Fixed extension strap: with a length of at least 1.5 meters.
- Patience: It is very important to be patient with furry ones, especially with puppies. It will depend on whether they trust us or not.
- Dog treats: to reward them for their good behavior and, incidentally, to make sure they walk alongside or close to you.
- Time: the duration of the walk should be about 30-60 minutes, depending on whether they are small or large breed dogs.
- Forget about leaders and hierarchies: It is true that you have to show yourself as a guide, but do not make the mistake of thinking that you are leading a pack of dogs desperate to follow a leader. Dogs live in family groups, groups that behave in a similar way to human families: parents teach them to behave, but with affection, with games, with patience and, yes, also firmly, but not with violence.
How to walk with the dogs?
Once you have the straps on, ask them to sit. Give them a treat when you have them all seated. Now, ask them to Quiet and open the door. If there are any who start walking before you tell them, close the door again and, again, ask them to be still.
Open the door again and, if they are calm, you go out first followed by the dogs. During the ride, you have to give them treats from time to timeFor example, when you notice that someone is straying too far, you can get their attention by showing one and giving it to them as soon as they return to your side.
It is important that, at some point, you let them explore. Dogs are very fond of sniffing and investigating the terrain, so for everything to go well and be happy, you should stipulate an exploration time, which should last as long as possible.
When you return home, be the first to enter and ask them to sit down. Take off the leash and give them food and water to regain strength.
