In Montreal the Pitbull breed is prohibited

Pitbull dogs

The city of Montreal, in Canada, has just passed a controversial law against all Pitbull breed dogs. This law has been accelerated when a 55-year-old woman died being attacked by a dog of this breed. Many protectors, politicians and people who support dogs have already demonstrated against this law, which in general is absurd, since the attack of a dog that may have had an owner who has taken out his aggressive side does not mean that these dogs are bad.

In our country we have a law for PPP or potentially dangerous dogs, among which this breed is also found. However, the behavior of a single dog should not be a stigma for all those belonging to the same breed, accused of being violent in an unjust way and out of sheer ignorance. In Montreal however, they have gone ahead with this law.

The new law for these dogs will come into effective October 3. From this date it will be prohibited in the states of Montreal to buy or adopt a Pitbull dog. Animal protectors and many dog supporters have already started protesting a move that is undoubtedly disproportionate. Many of these dogs are still in kennels waiting for a home, and due to this bad reputation they find it difficult to find a home. And yet it is a very noble race, which at some times were even used as nannies for their great patience and protective instinct.

Owners of this breed will have to start meet strict rules similar to those of the PPP law in our country, such as taking them for a walk with a muzzle or having them in a special register and with a microchip. If they do not comply, the dog may be euthanized, which is a very unfair and cruel measure by the authorities against dogs that have done no harm. For the performance of one a whole race has paid.
