How do we want it to travel: plane, boat, transport companies?
When we travel, it is logical that we want our dog to accompany us, which is why we often take it with the plane or the boat. However, for everything to go smoothly it is very important to book at least two months before, since the companies have established a maximum number of animals that they can take, and make sure the dog is going to be okay, that is to say, that the place where it is going to be is safe.
If we choose to hire the services of a transport company, we have to find out if the animals receive veterinary attention, if they have air conditioning and, also, if we can supervise our furry from a distance.
Preparing our dog for the trip
To avoid having a bad (or very bad) time during the journey, there are some things we must do before leaving:
- Do not feed him until 4 hours before leaving. That way he won't vomit.
- Take him out for a walk and exercise so he's relaxed.
- Put an antiparasitic on it, the pipette being highly recommended (it is a small plastic bottle that contains the antiparasitic liquid).
- If he does not have it on, we must take him to the vet to get the microchip.
- Put a drinker in the carrier, so that it can stay hydrated.
- In the event that you are very nervous, we can give you a relaxant recommended by a professional.
Also, it is necessary that you have all your vaccinations up to date.
