Intestinal parasites in dogs

Intestinal parasites

When we think of parasites, we usually refer to those that we see outside of our pet, such as ticks. But these parasites, which live on our pet and can affect it, can also be inside it. They are the least known intestinal parasites.

These parasites of the intestine may not be detected in the first moments, since at first they do not show symptoms. But they are diseases that can lead to something more serious, especially if the dog is a puppy, an old man or is old. In addition, there is always a risk of contagion with other animals and people.

There are two kinds of parasites in the intestine, on the one hand worms and on the other the tapeworms. One of the most common forms of infection is through the feces of other infected animals, especially when our dog practices coprophagia. This causes them to spread quickly, although if all the owners collected the stools, there would be no problem.

If the contagion is brief, no symptoms are usually seen. But when it is more serious, there will be other symptom, such as vomiting, diarrhea or extreme thinness. Also, when these worms or tapeworms are already all over the intestine, they can be clearly seen in the stool.

The best way to avoid this problem is prevent forever. Especially if there are children at home, who do not usually have the same hygiene with pets that we do. You have to give them pills to deworm inside, which can be bought at the vet. In this way, we will always be sure that they do not get internal parasites.

It is something very simple, but a gesture that is often forgotten many times. There are even ways to deworming internal to people, when they are believed to be infected. Or for workers who are with dogs constantly, such as those of the animal welfare agencies.
