The natural curiosity that dogs feel towards the objects around them pushes them, on numerous occasions, to lick or eat some dangerous substances. It is the case of plants and flowers, which many times we put within the reach of our pets, ignoring that they can be really dangerous for them. Here are some of the most harmful species for dogs.

1.Aloe Vera. It really turns out toxic for dogs and cats, as this plant contains saponins, a substance whose intake causes vomiting, diarrhea, muscle spasms, darkening of the urine and weight loss in these animals. However, it can be used externally to soothe some skin irritations, although it is always advisable to consult your veterinarian beforehand.

2. Lilacs. They are especially dangerous for cats, but some varieties severely damage the body of dogs. Its ingestion causes tremors, stomach upset, anorexia and depression, among other negative symptoms. The most dangerous varieties are the cradle of Moses, the lilies and the autumn daffodils.

3. Azalea. Toxic for dogs and cats, its intake leads to an upset stomach, excessive salivation, diarrhea, vomiting, joint paralysis and weakness. In severe cases it can lead to coma or death of the animal. Its consumption requires immediate veterinary attention.

4. Marijuana. Its intake causes symptoms such as slow heart rate, disorientation, lack of coordination, excessive salivation, tremors and dizziness in the dogs. It is highly harmful, as these effects can remain in the animal's body for several days.

5. Diephembachy. It is very common in homes, thanks to its resistance and the little care it needs. When a dog ingests its leaves, it can suffer vomiting, skin irritations, a burning sensation in the mouth and throat, and inflammation of the esophagus, which can block its airways. It is also highly toxic to cats.

6. Sago Palm. We usually find it in all kinds of gardens. It contains a substance called cicasin, which causes vomiting, diarrhea, liver damage, blood in the stool, and even death in the dog. Just ingesting one of its seeds can be really dangerous.
