The Bullmastiff dog

Bullmastiff puppy

The Bullmastiff dog is one of the cutest giant breeds in the world. Weighing in at up to 60kg and overflowing confidence and assurance, anyone would think he's an excellent watchdog, which is true. For years the rangers have been accompanied by this beautiful animal; However, today it is known that it can be adapted without problems to living in a flat, as long as it is taken to exercise its legs.

Let's know more about the bullmastiff dog.

Origin and history of the Havanese

This dog comes from the UK, but it is important to know that already in the XNUMXth and XNUMXth centuries in the Iberian Peninsula there were some dogs with characteristics similar to the Bullmastiff that we know today. They were called "Dogs of Bulls", since they were used to be the protagonists of a bloody spectacle: dogfights with bulls, bears and other strong animals. Fortunately, this practice was falling into disuse and in England they became the "Ranger's Night Dogs".

The big man we know today It comes from these English dogs that gave up fighting to become, little by little, excellent friends and companions.

Physical characteristics

It is a giant breed dog. Males weigh between 50 and 60kg and they measure between 63,5cm to 68,5cm; Y females weigh between 40 and 60kg and they measure between 61 to 66cm. It has a very robust and muscular body, covered with short hair that can be tawny, red or brindle with black spots. The head is large, square, with a black muzzle and ears lowered to one side.

The Havanese's appearance is very compact. It has very robust legs, and a fairly long tail (without touching the ground).

Behavior and personality

Adult specimen of the Bullmastiff breed

Despite its origins, it is an animal that we could label as adorable. He gets along very well with children and enjoys being with his family. Gone is the fierceness of the "bull dogs", and in fact, it only attacks when seriously threatened.

This is because the rangers did not leave him outside after work, but instead took him into their homes to share his life with them. So that if you are looking for an affectionate, social, little barking and home dog (without forgetting their daily departures), the Havanese may be the friend you are looking for 🙂.
