Dogs understand what you say and how you say it

Dogs understand what they say

There are many studies carried out to understand the relationship of dogs and humans, and the degree of intelligence of the former. So far there have been studies that have shown that dogs can distinguish up to a thousand words, depending on their training and their level of intelligence, but a recent study tells us that they understand what we say and how we say it, and relate it to draw conclusions.

As we do, we recognize words and intonation of these, and when they coincide we draw conclusions. A word can be said with a neutral, happy or disapproving tone, and that is why we can draw different conclusions depending on the tone and the words. Apparently, dogs can do the same, since they process information with both hemispheres of the brain.

Have been about Hungarian researchers those who have recently published in the Science magazine the article in which they talk about these peculiarities of the brain of dogs. We have all said at times that our dog understands us and only needs to speak and answer us, and we may not be so far from reality. This study has shown that your brain processes words in a way similar to ours.

Dogs they process what we tell them in two parts of the brain. In the left hemisphere they process the words and in the right the intonation. When both coincide, for example with a congratulatory or command word to which they are accustomed, then they know perfectly what we are expressing and what is expected of them. An environment in which language is so important has made dogs evolve and understand better and better what we express, although our body language, gestures and our mood also transmit much, much more to them than we think.
