The infection is caused by microbacteria from the group mycobacteriumtuberculosis, between them Mycobacterium bovis y Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
This disease can be seen in large animals and also in companion animals, such as dogs and cats. In these cases, unlike what happens with livestock, it does not imply a great economic impact.
Lung, gastrointestinal problems may appear. Dogs are more likely to be infected with M. tuberculosis than cats. Animals can contract the infection from livestock, especially in animals that live on or near livestock farms or have sick owners. The most common form of contagion is the respiratory route, although there is also the possibility through the digestive or skin route.
