Tumors in Dogs

Like us humans, we can be prone to tumors and lumps in our body, dogs can also develop tumors that deserve immediate attention. Above all, dogs that are older are the most affected and can develop tumors in areas such as the skin, bones, stomach, head, etc. It is very important that we, pet owners, are always attentive to any changes in the skin or behavior of the animal, since early detention can help healing the health of the little animal.

In the same way, we must know some of the symptom that are presented in the animal to know what type of treatment to follow.

Although there are different factors that can predispose appearance of this type of lump, such as the breed, the color of the animal's hair, its diet, exposure to sunlight, etc., the symptom that can best alert us is the appearance of a thick and hard ball that does not move or it is separated from the skin of the animal.

In the same way, if our dog suffers from a tumor in the stomach, it can present symptoms such as weight loss, loss of appetite, vomiting and diarrhea.

If we have, for example, a female dog, and when we feel her breasts we notice the presence of lumps or balls, it is important that we visit a specialist as soon as possible to determine if the tumor is benign or malignant.

Generally, veterinarians perform a series of physical examinations, such as X-rays, ultrasound, and topographies to determine if the tumor is malignant or benign. Similarly, the treatment to be followed will depend on the type of tumor and the affected area, although it must usually be removed by means of a surgical intervention.
