Under-Dogs: what dogs look like from below

Dog photographed from below in a photo shoot for Under-Dogs, the work of Andrius Burba.

It is not the first time that the world of photography and the passion for animals come together to give rise to projects like the one we are dealing with today. It is a series of images captured by the Lithuanian photographer Andrius Burba, which follow the line of previous works such as Under-Cats, Under-Rabbits and Under-Horse. Without a doubt, a new perspective to contemplate these beautiful animals.

In Under-Dogs this photographer specialized in animal portraits shows us a different vision of our pets, capturing several dogs from below and with a black background. To do this, he places them on a glass table specially designed for the project, and takes the snapshots directly below them. The result is a list of curious and funny images.

This work is preceded by a similar one starring cats, which has allowed the artist to compare the behavior of both animals. As he explains, “Cats were adorable, but dogs are more playful, and also more obedient, which helped us do more interesting portraits. Once they got on the glass, they changed completely and stayed still.

She also explains the two lessons she has learned during these sessions: “One, that cats believe themselves to be gods, that people feed them, worship them and give them a home. Two, that dogs see their human as a god who feeds them, loves them, and gives them a home. That gives food for thought. In any case, Andrius Burba has acquired great international fame thanks to this idea, publishing some books that collect these curious images.

We can see their work on the official website of outfit, agency for which the Lithuanian photographer is responsible. On the YouTube channel of the same agency we can see a making of of these original photo sessions:
